Your Questions, Answered
How will cognitive coaching help me?
Cognitive Coaching offers patients a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the challenges they are experiencing in their day-to-day lives, careers, interpersonal relationships, and executive functioning. Or, as my patients and their loved ones say: “The way you explain it makes so much more sense!”
Our work together will help you hone in on cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.
What makes coaching with EMC different?
My education and clinical background in early childhood development, psychodiagnostic assessment and learning differences, affords me a unique lens to understand the subjective cognitive challenges patients report. Auditory processing challenges, sensory disturbances as well as the interplay between these challenges and ones sense of self, self in relation to others and overall self-esteem, is an example of this understanding.
Who is a good candidate for coaching?
My work is for individuals who feel stuck, or otherwise less effective in their life. I have worked on specific concerns, as well as broader life challenges such as effective interpersonal engagement. I enjoy triaging each patient’s concerns and developing swift action plans, with immediate results.
What about ADHD?
I have a particular affinity for and specialization in adult ADHD, and with that in mind, target the need for instant gratification. I get to the point! I am able to translate a flat list of 18 diagnostic symptoms of ADHD into 3 dimensional tangible life examples that people resonate with and understand. Patients and their loved ones, such as partners, parents and children, have told me that my conceptualization of their cognitive challenges has given them the language they need to communicate with others more effectively.
