I began working in a large medical center in the San Francisco metropolitan area in 1999, and the past 25 years have afforded me wonderful clinical experiences across the lifespan with an array of ethnically, culturally, linguistically and sexually diverse individuals. During this time, I began to focus on adult ADHD and I facilitated a Health Education class about the disorder for 18.5 years (2004 until 2022). The classes were 90 minutes on a weekly, then biweekly basis with the group sizes ranging from 30 to 65 attendees per class. I offer this context as it demonstrates the depth and breadth of intellectual engagement experience with such a large population of individuals. As one can imagine, the skill, expertise and finesse required for such facilitation has strengthened my ability to identify salient aspects of difficulties and quickly begin the problem solving needed to affect change.
